NCC/Scout & Guides
In Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVS), both NCC (National Cadet Corps) and Scouts & Guides programs are active co-curricular activities aimed at the all-round development of students. Here’s an overview:
1. NCC (National Cadet Corps) in KVS

Purpose: To instill discipline, leadership, character, patriotism, and service-mindedness among students.

Eligibility: Usually offered from Class VIII onwards. Boys and girls can join voluntarily.

Training:

Conducted in collaboration with local NCC units.

Includes Drill, Weapon Training, Camps, Social Service, Adventure activities.

Certificates: Students can earn A, B, and C certificates (depending on level and years of training), which are valuable for higher education and government jobs (extra marks/reservations in some recruitments).

Teacher Involvement: Trained Associate NCC Officers (ANOs) from school coordinate the program.
2. Scouts & Guides in KVS

Purpose: To develop self-reliance, service to others, moral values, and teamwork among students.

Bulbul / Cub – for primary classes

Guide / Scout – for middle and secondary classes

Activities:

Knot-tying, first aid, camping, trekking, community service, cleanliness drives.

National-level and State-level Rallies, Jamborees, Testing camps.

Badges and Awards: Students earn Pravesh, Pratham Sopan, Dwitiya Sopan, Tritiya Sopan and Rajya Puraskar (Governor Award) or Rashtrapati Puraskar (President’s Award).

Teacher Involvement: Trained Scout Masters / Guide Captains conduct regular meetings and camps.
